Border Route Trail 3 11/16 x 4 "Bumper" sticker.
36" x 18" poster with an overview map of the entire Border Route Trail (BRT) and its access trails. It shows the connecting segments to the Kekakabic and Superior Hiking Trails. It includes fourteen photos of favorite scenes linked to heir locations along the BRT. Includes a flier with descriptions of each of the photos and the GPS coordinates of the photo locations.
The "Border Route Trail Guide" is indispensable for the aspiring Border Route Hiker. It contains detailed topographic maps, locations of camp sites (campsite descriptions are provided on this website on the campsites page) and provides historic context to an area that has seen everything from Voyageurs to logging and mining operations. The trail guide goes beyond a mere description of the trail by pointing out side-trips, both off- and on-trail, to scenery and natural features easily missed.
"Sand" colored short-sleeve t-shirt sporting a full-color photo of the vista at the Rose Cliffs, taken by Rudi Hargesheimer, and the official BRT logo on the back. 50/50 cotton/poly blend.
The map set consists of four map sections printed double sided on two sheets of 11" x 17" "Rite in the Rain" waterproof tear resistant paper. It is the only topographic map set that we know of that covers the entire 65 miles of the BRT, all of the access trails to the BRT and the connections of the BRT to the Kekakabic Trail in the west and the Superior Hiking Trail in the east. The map set uses a 1:50,000 scale with 50 foot contour intervals.
The closest towns are Grand Marais (beginning of Gunflint Trail, County Rd 12) and Hovland (beginning of Arrowhead Trail, County Road 16). In addition to the eastern and western termini, the Border Route Trail can be accessed through several access trails, thus allowing hiking trips ranging from short day-hikes to multi-day backpacking expeditions.
